A Conscious Evolution Initiative

'Our sense of reality is deliberately engineered to provide us 'satisfaction' so that we don’t go seeking other forms of reality.' - Kingsley L. Dennis

'Our sense of reality is deliberately engineered to provide us 'satisfaction' so that we don’t go seeking other forms of reality.' - Kingsley L. Dennis

I love this quote, which was recently put on the WSI facebook feed. I responded with this:

"I wistfully dream of being a part of a week long retreat where just these mere 21 words are discussed and where we could contemplate questions like “Who is the ‘us’ in that sentence?” and “What is the definition of ‘satisfaction’?”

If each individual human consciousness and each of their life performances are all part of the One Grand Consciousness [and I believe we are], and if each individuals self painted life landscape and resolutely picked out frame of reality is purposefully composed toward the end of ‘satisfying’ not just the individual consciousness but the OGC...then what is it that needs satisfaction?? What does the OGC seek? What ‘itch’ is the OGC trying to scratch and why?"

It was suggested that this might make a grand forum discussion...so here is the invitation. Lets share our consciousness' on this...

Much Love, Cynthia

This is a great topic. Yes - we are taught to live 'unrealistically' - it is steeped in narcissism - the hollywood effect. I am currently contrasting Indigenous cultural tradition (ecopsychology) and todays psychopathy to inquire about raising consciousness or re-discovering our true evolutionary path and not the colonial one. Look forward to more thoughts from people.

During my recent Travelling i saw some sights that may shed new light on Cynthia's questions: "What does the OGC seek? What ‘itch’ is the OGC trying to scratch and why?" I think the answer is: growth.

I sense that the One Grand Human Consciousness wants to expand so that it can attribute to the growth of the OGC, the mega-universe, or God, or the Akashic field or whatever you want to name it. Everything in a dualistic world either grows or dies. And we humans, not too clever, created duality first and next forgot how to grow.

Being tied up in our individual treadmills, we desperately try to reach one or more of the goals that are presented to us as "satisfactory". See the billboards on the walls of your prison? They're triggering the sensors in our mind that were designed to seek satisfaction in growth! But the billboards show money, fame, beauty, power, possessions. Go for it, folks! Sure enough, even "enlightenment" has a modest advertisement, but a treadmill is hardly the most efficient vehicle to reach it and the sort of "enlightenment" you can buy for your dear money all too often turns out to be an oriental Rolex.

Kingsley has put it in very clear words.

Fastened in our daily behaviour, we hardly have time and energy left for conscious growth or the growing of consciousness. And as we know, it is consciousness that creates reality. Our "reality" is crumbling apart as we speak. It has become just as fragmented and undernourished as the conscious minds of more and more people who are suffering and struggling in their treadmills to reach all but growth.

Yet, at the same time, the odds have never been so high to reach a boom in "consciousness". Billions of people have been touched, are ready to wake up. In the past decennials, very much universal wisdom has found its way to people all over the world. Tolle, Chopra, the Dalai Lama, Laszlo, Redfield, Walsch, they are just a few examples. The right seeds have been planted. Now it is time for careful watering and nourishing if we want to realise growth.

I think we could do with a coherent image of how we want the world to be, to enable all those awakening billions to enhance their consciousness with this possible image of a new reality. This shouldn't be too hard, it is amazing how alike we really are inside. I know no one who, deep inside, really believes that war, famine, rape, injustice, destruction and ugliness are among the coolest things we can achieve. We all want to love, to be loved, to eat, sleep and to be warm, we like to learn, to laugh and to enjoy life. Most people cherish nature, peace and contemplation.

It should not be too hard to create a world that mirrors the deepest and most cerebral wishes of the most of us. Not when the most of us can relearn to be conscious human beings, aware of the fact that we are creating the world we live in.

Indeed this is a deep broad topic, a topic for the spiritual masters perhaps.

I wondered if Kingsley in this quote was referring to the socio-economic consumerist sense of reality, the mainstream reality, or the broader reality. It perhaps could have multiple layers of meaning.

I've always felt like reality is multi-layered, as well as consciousness, and yet at the ultimate plane is all one. I do feel that the onion reference is apt. Peeling back the layers of reality.

We not only allow our reality to be engineered by various outer cultural, social, and religious influences but we engineer our own reality of course. That is just a lower level of reality. At the macro broadest level we have universal reality as being possibly Saṃsāra or samsara. Yet there is a growing theory that there is more potential for reality than simply life & death. I.e. ascension etc.

More possibly later.

May 20th 1993 - May 20th 2012 - The Eclipse Bridge to an Authentic Expression of Self

We are in an intensely potent window of time right now, between May 20th (Eclipse) and the following two weeks leading up to the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse of the 4th June. This two week window we now find ourselves in is forcing to the surface issues connected with the past that need to be finally released, or which have come full circle and are now completing. The May 20th Eclipse asked us to cast our minds back to nineteen years ago and to what was taking place then in our lives and to note any…See More
